I’m a second year UK medical student, on the long road to becoming a junior doctor.
Having survived second year, there are a few things I’ve picked up along the way which I may be able to share with those starting at medical school. Hopefully, this will also be useful to A level students who are currently experiencing the gruelling medical admissions process, something which seemed never ending to me at the time. But I promise, you will come out the other side (perhaps only slightly traumatised).
One thing I’ve learnt already from just one year at medical school is that laughter is most definitely the best medicine. You will make countless mistakes, some of which can only be resolved by a good chuckle, even if it is to divert attention away from the ridiculously incorrect answer you just gave in a pharmacology tutorial.
So I hope you enjoy reading about my (mis)adventures throughout the next year, along with a few riveting medical school application posts.
